Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect — Storms likely
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Damaging winds, large hail, and frequent lightning are all possible across the area this afternoon. That’s why the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entire area until 9pm. With any watch, that means that severe weather is possible – but not yet occurring – across the area.
Plenty of heat and humidity are providing the fuel needed for multiple thunderstorms to form in Southeastern North Carolina. These will grow through the afternoon and evening, mainly affecting the inland portions of our viewing area.
As always, keep it right here at WWAY on-air, online on our Facebook page, and on Twitter for all the latest warnings as they are issued. You can also track the storms at home by using our Interactive Radar – or on your mobile device by downloading the StormTrack 3 Weather App.
