STORMTRACK 3: Tropical Storm Alberto forms, makes for early start to Hurricane Season
SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — Hurricane Season is off to an early start as Tropical Storm Alberto has formed off the South Carolina coast.
The system started as a small disturbance, but has spun into the first tropical system of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
TS Alberto has sustained winds of more than 40 mph, with gusts at nearly 60 mph. The system is expected to begin making its way up the East Coast throughout the next several days.
No Tropical Storm Watches/Warnings are currently in effect. Our coastal areas may see an increase in rain, winds and possibly minor beach erosion as we head into Sunday night and Monday.
TS Alberto jumped the gun by about two weeks.
