NC NAACP President talks about past violence
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While the Reverend William Barber’s trip to Wilmington was specifically to address the issue of the Wilmington Ten and the incident 30 years ago.
We asked the Reverend about current unrest and what guidance he would offer the community and young people in light of 6 young men arrested in connection to the robbery and murder of a Chinese food delivery man.
“I’m not going to mix the two I will talk to you about that separately, the NAACP and African American people have always been against murder or death of any type. What we are talking about here tonight is when law enforcement and prosecutors and the court system manipulate justice.”
While the Reverend Barber left without addressing the question of the recent violence in Wilmington, he did e-mail us late. We hope to speak with him soon.
