Flags lowered to honor NC-based crew in wildfire plane crash
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Flags at state buildings across North Carolina were lowered today in honor of the Charlotte-based crew of an Air National Guard plane that crashed over the weekend.
At least two of the six crew members died when their plane crashed in the Black Hills of South Dakota over the weekend.
C-130 flights at that fire resumed today after being grounded Sunday.
The C-130 from an Air National Guard wing based in Charlotte was carrying a crew of six when it crashed Sunday evening while battling the White Draw Fire near Edgemont, in southwest South Dakota, that now encompasses nearly eight square miles.
