ONLY ON 3: Julia Boseman involved in incident at restaurant

WILMINGTON, NC(WWAY)– Former State Senator Julia Boseman is back in the spotlight after an incident Saturday night at a Monkey Junction restaurant.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to an assault call at the Tengu Japanese Steakhouse Saturday night. When they got there they found out it involved Julia Boseman.

Tengu restaurant owner Tom Lin says the argument started over the bill.

“They didn’t want to pay and they were very rude with the other servers,” said Lin. “I tried to call 911 and then Julia Boseman punched me.”

Despite Lin’s allegation, the Sheriff’s Office says when deputies arrived both Lin and Boseman said there was no assault. They say alcohol did not play a factor.

Lin says nothing like this has ever happened in his restaurant.

“I’m very upset, you know. I don’t know the lady, who she was before, then…I’m very upset,” said Lin. “I tell them and they come in and punch me on my back. That’s very bad.”

Lin says he doesn’t plan on pressing any assault charges against Boseman. All he wanted her to do was simply pay her bill, which eventually she did.

WWAY called Julia Boseman Sunday afternoon to ask for comment about the incident. Boseman said she did not know what we were talking about.
