Lejeune Visitor Center cuts back hours to save money
CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (WWAY) — Camp Lejeune is cutting back the hours its Visitor Center is open to try to cut costs and increase efficiency.
Starting Monday, the Visitor Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and closed on weekends. It had been open 24 hours a day.
All visitors being sponsored for access to the base must have their sponsor call the visitor center before the close of business, and should arrive prior to 5:45 p.m. on weekdays; the visitor center doors will close at 6 p.m. At the end of each business day visitor center staff will leave a list of called-in visitors with the main gate sentries. If the sponsor does not call during normal working hours the visitor may be turned away at the gate or the sponsor will be required to pick them up.
All sponsors will be held accountable for the conduct of visitors aboard MCB Camp Lejeune. The sponsor will be called regardless of the hour if an unannounced visitor arrives. To prepare for this transition, the visitor center will close at 10 p.m. Saturday and will reopen with its new operating hours Monday.
To contact the MCB Camp Lejeune Visitor Center call (910) 451-7735.
