Men charged with sex offense against mentally handicapped boy
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Investigators are looking into two men accused of sexual offense against a mentally handicapped boy in Pender County.
Sheriff’s investigators say the 16-year-old boy visiting Hampstead for Easter was the victim of second-degree sexual offense.
Before deputies could serve their arrest warrants, Orlando Jimenez and Victor Vasquez turned themselves into law enforcement in Union County.
Vasquez was victim’s mother’s boyfriend.
Both suspects have the same address in monroe on their warrants. Thursday a reporter from our sister station in Charlotte went to the home looking for answers. Jimenez, who works in the transportation department for Charlotte-Mecklenberg Schools, came to the door, but did not want to talk.
The Pender County Sheriff’s Office says the boy’s mother was not aware of what happened to her son. Instead the report came months later from a therapist who works with the teen.
According to the warrant the boy was mentally disabled and physically helpless at the time of the crime.
We went to the house where the crime allegedly happened, but no one answered the door when we knocked.
