Berger waits to have protective order appeal heard
BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger will have to wait a little longer to appeal his violation of a protective order.
Berger says although his case was not heard today, it will be heard at some point this week in Brunswick County, where the case was moved after a change of venue request.
As he headed to his car, Berger talked about the case that stems from incidents with his ex-girlfriend last year.
He said he did not want his case heard in Brunswick County. Instead, he preferred a court out of the area, so local media would not be there.
Despite that, Berger said he just wants the truth to come out and for the public’s perception of him to change if he’s found not guilty.
“I just hope that the truth is told and witnesses who are called to testify tell the truth when they put their hand on the Bible, and that’s all I really want to see happen, is the truth come out,” Berger said.
Berger says there are many more important things going on in New Hanover County than his case, and he hopes attention can be turned toward those issues.
Berger expects for the issue to be resolved at some point this week.
