Gaston County woman charged with animal cruelty
GASTONIA, NC (AP) — A Gaston County woman has been arrested on animal cruelty charges.
The Gaston Gazette reported 30-year-old Tracy Michelle Knight of Mount Holly was arrested earlier this week.
Knight is accused of failing to provide food, water, proper shelter, veterinary care and protection from the weather to three dogs.
Animal control officers say the charges come from incidents on June 24 and July 28. They involved a Chihuahua named Muffin, a black and white pit bull named Jake and a black and tan shepherd mix named Blue.
An arrest warrant states the pit bull needed veterinary care to prevent the dog from suffering from severe sores and thinness.
It was not clear if Knight has a lawyer.
