FIRST ON 3: Former BSL chief Ballree, son indicted on gun charges
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County Grand Jury has indicted former Boiling Spring Lakes Emmett Ballree and his son.
A spokeswoman for the NC Attorney General’s Office says Michael Ballree faces one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Emmett Ballree faces one felony count of aiding and abetting.
According to the indictment, back in September, Michael Ballree had a Heckler-Koch UMP .45 caliber automatic weapon. The indictment says Ballree was convicted of felony possession of a stolen firearm in Wayne County in 2004.
The indictment says Emmett Ballree aided and abetted his son to possess the gun last fall despite knowing that Michael had the conviction on his record.
When reached by phone this afternoon, Emmett Ballree said he had nothing to say about the indictment. A phone number for Michael Ballree could not immediately be found.
