Louisiana and Mississippi brace for Isaac; Heavy rain possible in North Carolina
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Isaac will likely make landfall near the coast of Mississippi or Louisiana as a Category 1 hurricane Tuesday. The direct storm effects will remain far southwest of North Carolina.
However, the moisture feed behind Isaac is quite large, and may interact with a series of fronts/troughs here in the Carolinas over the next few days. The end result will be a greatly increased chance of heavy showers/thunderstorms through mid-week. Many areas already received heavy rain totals last week, so additional rain may lead to flooding problems. Drier air should return by the weekend.
