UPDATED NEWS RELEASE FROM THE CITY OF WILMINGTON: A small portion of the Riverwalk at the foot of Market/Water streets is closed this week while emergency repairs are made to support beams underneath.
The work began last week and is expected to be completed next week. The $50,500 worth of repairs are part of the City Council’s newly adopted 5-year improvement plan that was approved as part of the 2012-13 city budget in July.
The plan calls for $41 million worth of repairs and improvements to be made to city streets, sidewalks and other facilities such as the Riverwalk. More than $4.8 million is included for needed repairs to the Riverwalk, including a $360,000 project in this area.
The remaining portion of this repair project will be done later this year.
