New Hanover, Pender deputies arrest man with four pounds of pot

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies say a man they consider a long-time drug dealer is behind bars after an eight-week investigation.

Investigators say they arrested Darryl Bernard Pearsall Jr. Tuesday and charged him with a host of marijuana-related drug charges.

Detectives got information that Pearsall was had about four pounds of marijuana with a street value of more than $9,500. Detectives spotted Pearsall driving in Porters Neck. When they tried to pull him over near the intersection of Market St. and Bayshore Dr. Pearsall tried to get drive away, but deputies were able to get him safely stopped at the intersection of Market St. and Brief Rd. and arrest him. A search of his vehicle revealed a plastic bag in the front driver’s floorboard that contained four pounds of marijuana.

As a result of Pearsall’s arrest detectives in Pender County were able to search two home in connected with Pearsall in the Hampstead area.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office charged Pearsall with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Pearsall also faces similar charges from the Pender Counties Sheriff’s Office.

Pearsall is in the New Hanover County jail under a $200,000 secure bond. He is due in court September 27.
