STORMTRACK 3: Tornado Watch remains in effect, warnings issued earlier today
SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Sampson and Duplin counties through early evening. A Tornado Warning was issued for northern Sampson County about 3:20 PM for a possible tornadic signature indicated on Doppler radar. As of 3:45 PM, no reports of major damage had been received.
A strong storm system will continue to produce widespread showers/storms today. Many storms will contain heavy rain and frequent lightning, and a few storms may reach severe limits. An isolated tornado is possible locally, but a greater tornado threat exists across northeastern North Carolina. Cooler, more stable air will arrive behind this storm system.
