ONLY ON 3: Leland, Belville rivalry made-for-TV?
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A production company out of Los Angeles wants to know why all the drama with Belville and Leland? So much so, it may soon be a television show.
It’s no secret that the small towns have had their fair share of drama over the last year. Between the alleged corruption within the Leland Police Department, to the resignation of Belville’s Mayor Jack Batson, the controversies in the towns are that of a reality television show and a production company out of LA wants to cash in on it.
High Noon Productions is reportedly looking for people in Belville and Leland to talk about the town’s “rivalry” with one another. The idea seems to be to have neighbor against neighbor in a battle over which town is better.
But what do the people of Belville and Leland think and how did a production company across the country learn about the small-town faceoff in the first place?
It may have stemmed from the coverage of the two town’s discussion of merging together, which quickly heated up once Belville representatives said no way to the idea.
Still though, Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman says she does not consider the two towns to be rivals so when she was approached by someone about the show, she didn’t take it seriously. Bozeman says she plans to continue to be a good neighbor to Belville and hopes they will do the same.
We tried to contact someone with the town of Belville but were told the manager was out until Friday.
Still, the production company didn’t say it was looking for officials so residents could make the cut if interested. Anyone interested or wanting more information should email email@example.com
