Hurricane threat forcing changes, cancellations, including ACT testing
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The threat of Hurricane Sandy is forcing lots of plans to change around the Cape Fear, including the rescheduling of a standarized test used for college admissions.
Two high school football games in New Hanover County will start earlier than scheduled tonight. The Hoggard-New Hanover game and Laney vs. Ashley will both kick off at 6:30 p.m. The Senior Night ceremony at Hoggard will start at 6:10 p.m. South Columbus at West Columbus will also kick off at 6:30 p.m.
The administration of the ACT scheduled for Saturday at Laney High School in Wilmington has been postponed. The rescheduled test date will be posted at ACTStudent.org as soon as it is set.
The Laney on the Links 3 golf tournament has been postponed until Saturday, Nov. 17. The tournament will remain at Porter’s Neck Country Club using a captain’s choice format, but it will now begin with a

The threat of sustained winds from Hurricane Sandy has forced the Battleship North Carolina to cancel the Ghost Ship for Saturday. The haunted attraction will go on as scheduled tonight. Regular Battleship tours will also continue today as normal. The Battleship will make a determination Saturday morning about tour operations for that day.
The City of Wilmington has cancelled two events for Saturday Run, Ride & Roll will be rescheduled in Spring 2013. The Haunted Hayrides at Halyburton Park will not be rescheduled.
In Wrightsville Beach, two events will move indoors this weekend at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort. Taste of Wrightville Beach is Saturday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. FOR Masonboro Island is Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Holden Beach Merchants Association has postponed the North Carolina Festival by the Sea until November 17-18. The Holden Beach Property Owners Association Pancake Breakfast is also postponed until November 17.
In Oak Island, Spooktacular will be held this evening at the Recreation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. instead of the soccer field.
The CCHA horse show at Hugh MacRae Park originally scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled.
