Winter weather advisory for western NC
GREER, SC (AP) — More winter weather is likely in the mountains of western North Carolina.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Ashe, Avery, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Swain, Watauga and Yancey counties into Wednesday afternoon.
For most of the area, forecasters say a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is possible in the mountains near the Tennessee state line. The precipitation is expected to change to rain later Wednesday.
Winds are expected to gust up to 40 mph.
But for Ashe and Watauga counties, the weather service says another one to three inches of snow is possible.
The snow has been generated by the superstorm sparked by Hurricane Sandy.
