New Congress means moves for McIntyre
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new Congress has taken office in Washington, DC. Members of the 113th Congress were sworn in today. The new session of Congress means Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-7th District) moves up the ladder of seniority in the US House.
“Serving the citizens and communities of eastern North Carolina is a great honor, and I am excited to have the opportunity to keep doing all I can to move our great state and nation in a positive direction,” McIntyre said in a statement.
McIntyre’s Washington office has moved to 2428 Rayburn House Office Building. A spokesman says it is a more senior office and has a picturesque view of the Capitol building.
McIntyre also moves up in seniority on two house committees he says are critical to North Carolina’s economy. McIntyre will move up to the No. 2 position on the House Agriculture Committee and the No. 3 spot on the House Armed Services Committee.
As he starts his ninth term in the House, McIntyre is moving district offices, as well, because redistricting changed the boundaries of the 7th District. McIntyre will begin this term with two congressional district offices in Elizabethtown and Leland. The Elizabethtown address is 119 Courthouse Drive, and the new phone number is (910) 862-1437. The Leland address is 497 Olde Waterford Way, Suite 206, and the phone number is (910) 815-4959. More district offices may be announced later.
