Bank robbed in Elizabethtown, bomb threat at school
ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — It’s been a busy day for law enforcement in Bladen County, including a bank robbery and a bomb threat at a school.
An employee confirms there was a robbery this morning at First Citizens Bank in Elizabethtown. The employee would not provide any more details. Elizabethtown Police are investigating.
Around the same time, a bomb threat was called in to Elizabethtown Primary School. The school district says all 556 students and 86 staff were moved by school buses to a secure location at the National Guard Armory.
The school’s principal sent an Alert Now message to all Elizabethtown Primary parents notifying them of the situation.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department bomb dog search team, searched the school campus and all school buildings, the district says. Investigators say the school was safe and free of any bomb. Students and staff returned to the school at about 11:15 a.m.
