McCrory hosts reception as RNC leaders meet in NC
CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — The Republican National Committee is holding its winter meetings in the North Carolina city where Democrats re-nominated Barack Obama for president four months ago.
The RNC expects about 250 people to attend meetings that are to get under way Wednesday in Charlotte and run through Friday at a downtown hotel. Most of the work will be business meetings and training sessions. GOP leaders also will elect their four top leaders Friday. Chairman Reince Priebus is running again.
Former Charlotte mayor and new Gov. Pat McCrory will host a welcoming reception Wednesday evening at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal – a potential 2016 presidential hopeful – is the featured speaker at a Thursday night dinner.
The Democratic National Convention was held in September in Charlotte.
