Ex-NC Gov. Perdue going to Harvard for semester

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Former North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue will spend her first few months out of office at Harvard University.

Harvard’s Institute of Politics announced Thursday that Perdue was selected for one of six resident fellowships for the spring semester. She’ll lead weekly study groups and interact with students on the Massachusetts campus.

Other new resident fellows include political analyst Charlie Cook, Democratic National Convention chief executive Steve Kerrigan and Karen Hughes, an adviser to former President George W. Bush.

Perdue was North Carolina’s first female lieutenant governor and governor, serving as chief executive for four years until earlier this month. She decided against seeking a second term as governor.

Perdue said last month she planned to become part of a foundation emphasizing education and technology and to start her own business.
