David says his office ‘monitoring’ jail beating case
BLADEN COUNTY (NC) — Last week, WWAY broke the story of Joshua Ward, who was badly beaten in the Bladen county jail.
Former jailer, Marcus Hubbard, told us that kind of violence is nothing new at the Bladen county jail. He said his complaints would often times fall on deaf ears.
Today, District Attorney Jon David said, “It is not up to my office to deal with staffing issues at the sheriff’s office. I am concerned about the inmate who was injured and I will vigorously prosecute the perpetrators. Currently there is no indication of criminal wrongdoing by jail staff, but I am monitoring the situation should new information become available.”
