BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Train derails near Bladenboro, forces evacuations
BLADENBORO, NC (WWAY) — According to Bladen County Dispatch a train has derailed near the town of Bladenboro.
Emergency Management says only one car has chemicals in it, and it appears that it is not leaking at this time.
According to Capt. Rodney Hester, as a precaution, homes between Seaboard Street and Village Street are being evacuated and residents are being sent to Bladenboro Middle School.
A state hazmat team is on the scene now and is trying to confirm that there is no leak. The one car has anhydrous ammonia in it.
At least eight cars overturned in the derailment.
