Polar Plunge and 5K Run-N-Plunge benefit Special Olympics
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The 9th Annual Polar Plunge kicks off this weekend, with a new event in the mix.
The 5K Run-N-Plunge gives the community another opportunity to have fun for a good cause, with the option to get decked out in costume. The annual Polar Plunge invites adventurous supporters to plunge in the ocean in February, with no wetsuit.
Both events benefit the Special Olympics New Hanover County, so all proceeds stay local.
Special Olympics New Hanover County supports more than 500 athletes with Intellectual Disabilities in year-round training programs in 11 different sports and competing in local, regional and state-level events.
Both events will be held Saturday at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, and there’s still time to register!
Dick Agnitsch and Tiffany Lesley stopped by Good Morning Carolina to give Ashley Jacobs the scoop on the chilly fun.
