Emergency management employees honor life of dispatcher

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Employees with New Hanover County Emergency Management remembered the life of one of their own during a candlelight vigil Thursday night.

Jeff Davis, 58, was a dispatcher for the department for nearly two years. He died Tuesday from what is believed to be a heart attack.

His co-workers gathered in the serenity garden at the County Government Center, each holding a burning candle. They talked about how Davis seemed to know everyone and always brought a positive attitude to work.

“Every time he picked the phone up, he was genuinely interested in that person he was speaking with,” Emergency Management Supervisor Warren Lee said. His desire was to get them the best help he could get them in the quickest way he could do it.”

Davis is survived by one son.
