County gives CFCC $600,000 to fix mold problem

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College is doing some work to fix a mold and mildew problem in a building on campus.

Employees first noticed a problem in the McLeod Building on the downtown campus in December. Since then they have moved to temporary mobile units behind McLeod.

CFCC spokesman David Hardin says the problem is isolated, and the rest of the building is still safe for students.

“This building is 37-years-old, so it’s one of our older buildings on campus, so it was really important that we were able to fix it,” Hardin said.

New Hanover County commissioners approved $600,000 for the school to make the needed repairs.

CFCC expects the project to be finished within six months.
