NC district attorneys present plan for safer state
CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — North Carolina’s district attorneys are unveiling a plan that they say will make the state safer.
The state Conference of District Attorneys will unveil its “Blueprint for a Safer North Carolina” at a news conference Thursday afternoon at the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office in Charlotte.
The prosecutors say the plan calls for legislators, local government, faith-based organizations and business leaders to work together to promote crime prevention and to support the criminal justice system.
New Hanover and Pender County DA Ben David is president of the conference. He says prosecutors must be proactive and build community-based partnerships that help prevent crime and not just respond to tragedies at the courthouse.
The conference will present a video titled “Justice is Not a Coincidence.”
