Visit the WWAY Weather Team at Stormfest this weekend
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hurricane season is right around the corner, and yet again the Cape Fear Museum will host the fourth annual Stormfest this Saturday, June 1st from 10am until 4pm.
The 4th annual Stormfest is a joint venture between the Cape Fear Museum & the National Weather Service, and is a severe weather awareness and preparedness event where participants learn about all things meteorology.
The event will be family-friendly with interactive weather demonstrations by Cape Fear Museum educators and plenty of hands-on elements throughout the museum.
You can also meet the StormTrack 3 Weather Team and try your luck on our green screen in front of our graphics.
Just in time for hurricane season, officials from the American Red Cross and New Hanover County Emergency Management, in addition to many other organizations, will discuss hurricane preparedness and offer tips on keeping your family safe during severe weather.
The NWS will also offer SKYWARN spotter training during the event, which is a free training that teaches people about severe weather often seen in the eastern Carolinas and how to report weather to the NWS, according to organizers.
Stormfest will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
