Couple charged in Wilson hit-and-run moped death
WILSON, N.C. (AP) – A husband and wife have been charged in the hit-and-run death of a man on a mo-ped in Wilson.
Authorities say 39-year-old Troy Gunter and his 34-year-old wife, Nicole, were arrested Sunday, two days after the wreck on NC Highway 42.
Troopers say 58-year-old Hugh Johnston was thrown 175 feet after he was hit about a mile from his home. Investigators found pieces of the car at the wreck and were able to figure out the make and model of the vehicle that hit Johnson.
Troy Gunter is charged with felony hit and run, involuntary manslaughter and driving while license revoked. Nicole Gunter is charged with hit-and-run, aiding and abetting driving while a license is revoked. It wasn’t known if either of them had attorneys.
