Historic Wilmington Foundation adds sites to list of threatened historic places

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Historic Wilmington Foundation announced its 2013 Most Threatened Historic Places List today.

Among the locations to join the threatened list is the Dubois Boatwright House at 14 South 3rd Street.

Historic Wilmington Foundation Executive Director George Edwards says it is vitally important to preserve these buildings for future generations.

“Tthey help say who we are and where we’ve come from, and if we don’t save those buildings and look at solutions for saving them, and those sites, then we are all going to be the poorer,” Edwards said.

Edwards says these sites are what make Wilmington unique. He is hopeful that several places on the list, including the Dubois Boatwright House will be saved.
