KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) – A 12-year veteran with the Kernersville Police Department has been suspended with pay and found in contempt of court for a causing a disturbance after a man was found not guilty of misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1cnBzzO) that Officer S.P. Senor was also ordered to pay a $100 fine after Wednesday’s outburst in the Forsyth County courtroom in Kernersville.

Senor testified during the trial that he stopped the man for a broken license plate light and found marijuana while searching the car. The man denied that the marijuana or the car belonged to him, and prosecutors couldn’t prove otherwise.

After the hearing, Senor confronted the man and used profanity. Senor apologized to the court and to the man.
