Charlotte Douglas airport laments day of problems
CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) – Things can only get better at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Anything that could go wrong on Wednesday actually did. It started with bees swarming a tug before a US Airways flight could leave the gate, causing to a two-hour delay. Then, there was smoke in a concourse that forced an evacuation.
The Charlotte Observer reports that there were also coyotes spotted near a runway that caused a minor delay. To top it off, a flight from Charlotte to Rome was diverted back to the US.
There’s also the ongoing struggle over who should take control of the airport. The N.C. General Assembly passed a law giving that control to an authority. But a judge has issued an injunction that leaves the city in control for now.
