Delivery drivers targeted by robbers in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are looking for several suspects after they say two different delivery drivers were targeted by robbers in Wilmington over the weekend.
The first robbery happened when a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver was dropping off an order at 106 S. 14th Street just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
When no one answered the female driver’s knock at the door, police say she told them two males were standing at the bottom of the front steps. They say the driver told them the two men, described as black males wearing blue jeans with white t-shirts over their faces, used their fingers as handguns, so she called 911.
When one of the robbers grabbed the pizza, the other pushed her to the ground, choked her, and took her phone, according to police.
The second crime happened just a few blocks away on Sunday just after 11 p.m. when a delivery driver knocked on a door at N. 13th and Grace Streets.
Police say three masked men in dark clothes robbed the driver when he was delivering food. They say the three suspects took off on Grace Street on bicycles.
No word on what robbers got away with during the second robbery.
