Tech glitch fixed for Charlotte schools

CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — School officials say a new computer system seems to be working.

The Charlotte Observer reported that officials say there has been no crash of the PowerSchool system that is used to set student schedules, record attendance and handle other information.

Officials in the largest school districts, Wake County and Charlotte-Mecklenburg, say there were slowdowns with the system Monday but the situation improved Tuesday.

Philip Price with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction said Tuesday there have been no problems that disrupted the opening of schools across the state this week.

About 1.5 million students returned to school on Monday.

Price says the demands on the system will increase this week.

The state switched this year to the new system that also handles bus routes, grades and employee information.
