Carolina Farmin’ closing Market Street store
WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Carolina Farmin’ announced the closing of its current Market Street location this morning.
The retail store will cease operations as of September 12, 2013. However, their Central Market wholesale operations will continue business as usual.
“We weren’t able to come to terms on a new lease with the property’s owner,” said Long. “We love the neighborhood we’re in and it’s been very difficult thinking about leaving what we’ve built there behind. However, it was ultimately disheartening the frigid temperatures and leaky roof of the building in conjunction with the unnavigable parking lot that forced the decision. We feel our devoted patrons deserve more and we’re excited that this move will better accommodate the vision our organization is anxious to present.”
Long noted that the company is very close to announcing new distribution center and retail space, but terms are still being finalized. The plan is to conclude negotiations for the first wave of locations within the next month, so the retail operation is prepared to open by launch of the local harvest season, 2014.
“We appreciate the strong support we’ve had during this time of transition,” said Long, “and we’re looking forward to continuing to service the area with a fresh, new shopping experience in the near future.”
