FIRST ON 3: WDI names Wolverton as new President and CEO
WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Wilmington Downtown, Inc. (WDI) Board of Directors is pleased to announce Ed Wolverton as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. The search for the new WDI President and Chief
Executive Officer was conducted nationwide with a total of 38 resumes received.
Mr. Wolverton has twenty-eight years of downtown and economic development experience. He was most recently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Downtown Greensboro Incorporated (DGI). During his tenure, Downtown attracted over $290 million in new investment including both commercial and residential projects. Prior to Greensboro, he was President of the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation in Kansas where he led efforts that helped stimulate over $500 million in new investment over his tenure.
WDI will hold a news conference on Wednesday October 2nd at 2pm in Bijou Park on North Front Street next to the WDI office.
Mr. Wolverton will be in attendance to meet and greet the people of Wilmington. “I am excited and humbled to be selected for the position. There is tremendous growth and activity already underway in Downtown Wilmington and I am eager to work with the WDI Board of Directors, City leaders and Downtown business and property owners to attract even more investment and interest to the area” says Mr. Wolverton.
