Wilmington Police Dept. refuses to discuss string of fast food restaurant robberies
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It happened again last night. Two armed men forced some Dominoes employees to hand over their cash at the end of the evening.
Over the past few weeks it’s also happened at the Pizza Hut on Oleander, the IHOP at Market and College, the Burger King on 17th Street and the Pizza Hut in Leland.
Reports say the two men sometimes wear blue bandanas – a sign that they could be part of a Cryps gang. Last night we’re told they were wearing red bandanas – which are a sign you are a member of the Bloods gang.
We called Wilmington Police spokeswoman Linda Rawley this morning to ask if we could talk with someone investigating the robberies. She told us, “It’s not going to happen.” But, she did give us the number of a detective late this afternoon who hasn’t called us back either.
Less than a week ago, Chief Ralph Evangelous held a news conference to discuss the end of a 90-day cease fire in the city. While it was going on, a man shot at another man just a few blocks away from City Hall at the Exxon on 3rd Street and Dawson.
Over the weekend, four men were arrested for various shootings in the Creekwood community.
