Army Ground Forces Band unable to perform at UNCW due to Gov. Shutdown

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The shutdown of the federal government is making an impact on the UNCW Wind Symphony. The Army Ground Forces Band, stationed in Fort Bragg, was scheduled to perform in a joint concert with the Wind Symphony on Thursday. Now, the army ensemble must cancel due to lack of funding.The concert will still be held as scheduled, Thursday at 7:30 at Kenan Auditorium featuring the Wind Sympony and Chamber Winds. Tickets are $5 to the public; free to UNCW students.From UNCW: Due to the shutdown of the federal government, the U.S. Army Ground Forces Band will not appear in concert as previously publicized. The concert will be presented as scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:30pm in Kenan Auditorium featuring the UNCW Wind Symphony and Chamber Winds. We are hopeful that the U.S. Army Ground Forces Band will have an opportunity to perform in Wilmington in the future.groundforces.jpg
