Charged with attempted murder, man claims innocence
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Kolton Thompson is charged with trying to kill Tycoreus Wadell, but he claims he had never even heard of him until after he was arrested. Now he’s asking Wadell to clear him of the charges.
By his own admission Kolton Thompson has lived a thug life.
“I was a blood,” said Kolton Thompson. “I’m not going to say I was a blood, because I am a blood.”
After a warning from the district attorney’s office Thompson says he changed his ways and became what he calls a family man.
“They told me December 6th that if I get charged with anything they’re going to fry me,” said Thompson. “They’re going to do their best to put me under the jail.”
Words he says have played over and over in his head since he was arrested on attempted first degree murder charges.
“If I would have done it I would be A-OK,” said Thompson. “I would have already known I would have done it so I would know what to look forward too. Right now I don’t know what to look forward too. I don’t know if I’m going to see my freedom again or anything.”
Though there may be uncertainty surrounding the charges while behind bars Thompson claims there is one thing he is certain about, he wasn’t near Spaulding Drive and Stewart Circle when shots were fired at Tycoreus Wadell.
“I was either at the hospital or at the studio, one or the other,” said Thompson. “I’m not even going to lie to you my brain be on drugs. I smoke a lot of bud.”
Thompson says ultimately he knows the truth will set him free, which is why he is making one final plea to Wadell to come forward and tell the truth.
“You don’t even know me bro,” said Thompson. “I don’t even know you man. It’s only up to you to get me out of this man. I’m in here for 750,000 almost a million dollars because you lied and said I shot at you. I’ve never seen you and I’ve never heard of you.”
