Owner of alleged puppy mill charged with animal cruelty
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County woman is out of jail on an unsecured bond after deputies charged her with animal cruelty today nearly three weeks after seizing dozens of animals from her home.
Marilyn Medina faces 13 counts of cruelty to animals.
On Oct. 9 deputies and animal welfare groups raided Medina’s home on NC 11 in Willard. They took more than 100 animals from the property, including dogs, chickens, cows and a goat, according to the Humane Society.
Medina agreed to surrender the animals, which were taken to shelters in Wake and Guilford counties.
