UPDATE: Intersection back open after two-car crash downs power lines
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An intersection in downtown Wilmington is back open this morning after a crash involving a telephone pole closed it down while crews worked on repairs.
Dispatchers say the closure was sparked by a two-car crash at Red Cross Street and 5th Avenue around 6 p.m. Monday, leaving a phone pole broken and knocking down power lines.
They also said at least two people went to the hospital after the accident, as Duke Energy Progress crews worked on repairs throughout the night.
There’s no word on those injuries, or if either driver faces charges.
