Wilmington women arrested for theft in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A pair of Wilmington women spent at least part of Thanksgiving in jail after Jacksonville Police say they stole more than $6,000 worth of merchandise this week.
Police arrested Rafeeka Candice Brunson, 37, and Dominique Eason, 19, Wednesday. Investigators say around 3 p.m. they were called to check out a report of a larceny that occurred at Marshall’s on Western Blvd. Officers saw the car they were looking for leaving a parking lot and tried to pull it over, but they say it kept going. As police followed the car onto Moosehaven Road, they say it suddenly stopped and backed into the patrol car.
Police say the two women then tried to run away, but officers caught them. Police say they found the backseat and trunk of the car full of stolen merchandise (pictured).
Brunson is still in jail under $46,000 bond. Her charges include possession of stolen goods, resisting an officer, assault with a deadly weapon and fleeing to elude among others. Eason got out of jail yesterday on $20,600 bond, records show, charged with resisting an officer and various charges related to the theft. They are due in court Monday.
Records show Eason is due back in New Hanover County Court next month for an assault charge. Her record includes a conviction for a Dec. 2011 larceny. Brunson was convicted in 2003 for obtaining property by false pretense, records show.
