Parade of bikes rumbles up Toys for Tots
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Coast Harley-Davidson played the role of Santa’s helpers for the 21st annual Toys for Tots motorcycle ride. If you missed the parade you can watch it only on the WWAY website.
Since 1992, Carolina Coast has been partnering with the Marine Corp Reserve, rallying bikers to bring toys for less fortunate children.
In order to participate in the ride, each person must bring in new, unwrapped toys.
In 2012, this ride brought in close to 2000 toys, 50 bicycles, and $1700 in cash donations.
The ride itself typically has 600-1000 Motorcycles participating in the parade with close to 800 in 2012.
The ride is escorted around Wilmington by the New Hanover Sheriff’s Department and the Wilmington Police.
WWAY will have more on the Toys for Tots bike ride coming up at 6:00 PM.
