UPDATE: Thousands worth of lighting cables stolen from ‘Sleepy Hollow’ set

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating after they say thousands in lighting cables were stolen from the set of “Sleepy Hollow” near Screen Gems Studios.

They say the crime was reported yesterday just after 10 a.m. Police say they believe the rubber-coated cables were stolen from the series’ set at 1223 N. 23rd Street between the hours of 11:00 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Screen Gems Studios spokesperson Susan Dosier says the “Sleepy Hollow” set is on a property adjacent to their studios, which she says is owned by a paper company. She says “Sleepy Hollow” rented out a set right beside their property for filming, but since it isn’t owned by Screen Gems Studios, it is not under their security watch.

Police say about 800 feet of cable, weighing around 1,000 lbs., was stolen from the set. Wilmington Police are investigating they crime, but say there were no signs of forced entry, and there is no surveillance set up on that set’s grounds.

Dosier says there have been no larcenies or thefts reported at Screen Gems Studios in over 10 years. She says “Sleepy Hollow” is still assessing how much the stolen lighting cables are worth.
