The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will update city council Tuesday night on the status of several projects. This comes as the company tries to iron out some final kinks in the billing system.
In January, CFPUA sent a letter notifying customers they might see 2 billing cycles on one statement. General Manager, Matt Jordan, said the company is almost up to date on all customer bills. “We’re finishing up with our December billing and we hope to have that wrapped up in the next few days. We have corrected most of the major problems there and now we’re on a course to get caught up.”
The company normally bills for their services 2 months later. That means they should be complete with January’s bills by now. However, some customers tell us their bills are still months behind.
Jordan said the company will be back on track by April. The city of Wilmington recently awarded him an $18,000 bonus for a job well done.
Council members said the billing issues are not Jordan’s fault, and that since he took over, the utility authority has won awards for environmental stewardship.
