WRAR drops beleaguered eShowings

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors has ended its relationship with eShowings serving up another hit to the beleaguered company and its workers.

The termination was announced on WRAR’s website in a note from 2013 MLS President Jody Wainio. Delaware-based eShowings set up home showing appointments for realtors. In her message Waino told WRAR members an agreement is in the works with a new vendor who will provide more tools than eShowings.

“The worst is behind us!” Waino wrote. “This is my last duty as MLS President and I am proud to announce this new and innovative tool.”

Last month workers at eShowings’ Wilmington call center said the business closed its doors leaving them without jobs or a final paycheck. Workers told WWAY they were at first told the office would not close, only to learn hours later they were out of work.

Two weeks later, eShowings’ new CEO Linda Lanouette said the Wilmington call center was back in business after a “perfect storm” of problems, including former CEO Charles Smith going to prison earlier in the month for pocketing his employees’ payroll taxes. Workers, though, say Lanouette is actually Smith’s wife now using her maiden name.

Company representatives have not returned our calls over the last couple of weeks for comment.
