Arboretum hosts orchid seminar
With spring right around the corner, the Cape Fear Orchid Society hosted a program all about the flower on Saturday.
The day-long seminar took place at the New Hanover Arboretum, and was for everyone interested in learning more about growing and blooming orchids at home.
Four speakers shared information about the most common orchids available in local stores and garden centers.
Arlene Huber, president of the Cape Fear Orchid Society, said the event was all about appreciating the flower. “What we’re doing today is trying to make our love for orchids available to lots more people because once you’ve had an orchid you want more. Lot’s of times you don’t know how to take care of them. And most of us think that they’re very difficult and they’re not.”
The Cape Fear Orchid Society holds several events every month.
