Whats Happening: March 13-15
The weekend gets started early on Thursday night with the 8th Annual Cine Noir Festival of Black Films. The four day festival includes independent documentaries, features and films by African-American filmmakers. It takes place at the Cameron Art Museum. It ends on Sunday.
Saturday, parents and parents-to-be do not want to miss the 8th Annual Cape Fear Maternity and Baby Expo at the Coastline Convention Center. More than 60 vendors will be there with everything you need from pregnancy to preschool. It runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tickets are five bucks for adults, kids 12 and under are free.
Downtown Wilmington may look a little green on Saturday. It is the 2nd Annual Guinness St. Patrick’s Day Festival. It takes place in the parking lot at the corner of Water and Princess streets from 12:00 until 6:00 p.m. There will be Irish music, dancing, food, beer and arts and crafts booths. Admission is three dollars. Kids 12 and under are free.
Green is hot these days. The Wilmington/Cape Fear Home Expo and Remodeling Show is this weekend. More than 70 vendors will be there focusing on green products, and the latest in home décor and construction. It takes place at the Cape Fear Community College Schwartz Center Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Admission is three dollars.
Four-legged friends are putting their paws to good use Saturday. It is the American Cancer Society’s Canine Relay for Life of Pender County. It runs from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Poplar Grove Plantation. The registration fee is ten dollars per dog.
You could see an abundance of motorcyclists, bicyclists and cars on the streets of Wilmington Saturday. That is because the Wilmington MS Support Group is holding a Poker Run ride. It begins at Britt Motorsports at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. A ten dollar donation is requested. Proceeds benefit MS research.
