Boil water advisory Friday as CFPUA replaces valve in northern Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) will issue a precautionary boil water advisory starting at noon Friday for homes and businesses in a portion of the north side of Wilmington.
Crews will be replacing three valves in the area of the N. 4th St., which will require a water service outage for the areas shown in the map at right between noon and early Friday evening.
Traffic will be shifted in the area but road closures, and resulting detours, are not expected.
This precautionary boil water advisory is being issued with the outage because periods of low or no pressure increase the potential for the introduction of bacteria into the water system. CFPUA customers in the area impacted should boil their water for one minute then allow it to cool prior to consumption or utilize another water source such as bottled water. Consumption includes drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, food preparation, fruit and vegetable washing and the preparation of baby formula. Customers do not need to boil water prior to using it for showering or bathing.
