Thieves using web listings to target vacant houses

The internet has become an invaluable tool for realtors and home sellers, but some recent break-ins in our area raise questions that on line listings may be providing thieves with a blueprint for where to find vacated premises.
Recent police reports show several appliances have been stolen from vacant homes up for sale.
Several thousand dollars worth of appliances were stolen from a home on Bramton Road in Wilmington last week including a washing machine, dryer, and stove.
Thieves also broke into a home for sale on Stone’s Edge Loop Road.
Both homes are advertised on the internet with pictures and descriptions of the stolen appliances.
Police say they cannot confirm there is a direct correlation between the ads and the break-ins.
